Botanical Illustration for Beginners is an excellent class for those just starting to draw or those wanting to hone their skills. Learn to make realistic drawings of plants in graphite pencil. After careful observation, we will explore techniques such as proportion, foreshortening, and perspective. We will draw from a selection of plant parts including branches, leaves, flowers, and fruits. We will approach shading using geometric forms such as the cylinder and cone, then draw different plant parts that mimic those forms. In this class you will complete a simple plant drawing with shading. You are welcome to choose either Session I or Session II.
