From basic anatomy to facial expressions and the minutiae of drawing hair, we will tackle proportion, light, shading & form, using several methods designed to make portraits less daunting! Learn fun new ways to draw a face and head, using abstraction, line drawing & more. We'll even venture outside for a class to explore gesture. Join us and make portraiture fun!

REQUIRED SUPPLIES

1 soft black charcoal pencil
1 white charcoal pencil
3pk extra soft vine charcoal
2-3 good drawing pencils in different hardnesses (2H, HB, 4B and/or 6B)
1 compressed charcoal stick - 4B
1 Large eraser (General's kneaded, gum eraser, or Magic Rub)
1-2 fine tipped black drawing pens (Micron 01 or Staedtler .05)
Set of 12 or more professional quality colored pencils (Prismacolor)
Pouch/small box for your supplies
1 sketchbook with good drawing  paper, between 5x8 - 11x14 (Moleskine, Handbook Paper Co or Strathmore)

Optional:
Chamois or tortillons for charcoal blending
1-2 woodless graphite pencils (2B-9B)
Pencil sharpener
Sanding block
Good sturdy drawing board for up to 18x24" paper
