Larkin Arts is seeking a part-time Center Assistant.

We are a dynamic art center owned by a community-invested local couple. With a retail art supply store, galleries, classes and studios, there are always exciting arts-related events happening at Larkin. 

 

Because we have such diversity in our business, the Larkin Arts Center Assistant (CA) wears many hats. Primarily in charge of running our retail store, the CA is the first point of contact for anyone entering or calling our store. This person needs to be friendly, knowledgeable, able to help our customers efficiently, and should be proactive in learning about aspects of our store, school, galleries, studios and events. The CA should be detail oriented, organized, flexible and enjoy creating product displays. He/she should be available for First Friday Gallery Openings and work a minimum of 9 hours per week. This person should be motivated, willing to work in a sometimes very fast-paced workplace, and enjoy the challenge of an environment that is always changing. Our ideal candidate has extensive art supply knowledge, experience with a wide range of materials, and a desire to learn more about the products we carry.  

 

Center Assistants:

-provide excellent customer service
-register students for classes in our school
-sign up interested persons for our database, art markets, other events
-help to maintain our galleries between shows
-assist with gallery hanging as needed
-hang art as needed in the hallways and store
-set up for all First Friday art openings
-give mini tours to interested groups
-create purchase orders and process inventory
-create eye-catching and aesthetically pleasing displays
-clean (this position requires daily, weekly & monthly cleaning assignments)
-are a liaison between studio artists and owners as needed
-post to social media every shift
-assist with special events as needed
-update our website
-reflect positively on the business
-must love dogs!

 

Desired skills:

-Gifted handwriting skills for signs
-Graphic Design basics
-Marketing experience
-Excellent writing skills for marketing posts
-Customer service
-Retail experience
