“Hi! I’m Laci Tieszen, and I have called Harrisonburg my home for the past five years. I grew up in a small town in Northwest Ohio, and came to the beautiful valley to study at Eastern Mennonite University. Highlights from my time at EMU include receiving the 2013 Teacher of Promise award, spending a semester abroad in South Africa and Lesotho, and taking many exciting art classes including paper making, ceramics and 3-D design. I have just completed my first year of teaching 6th through 8th graders at J.Frank Hillyard Middle School in Broadway, Virginia. It has been a truly rewarding and life-giving experience to watch young artists think through the creative process—from the beginning planning stages, to creating a finished work of art. In my free time, I enjoy visual journaling, making handmade cards and painting.  I am very much looking forward to all the fun to be had again at Larkin Arts!”
